The aim of this website is to provide information about the performance of participating South Australian Councils in seven key areas of Governance, Community Satisfaction, Financial and Asset Management, Quality of Life, Community and Social Wellbeing, Environment and Health, and Quality Service Delivery.
The information provided is drawn from various sources, including the Ombudsman, Grants Commission, Valuer General, and Electoral Commission. Councils may also choose to participate in a community survey undertaken by Roy Morgan Research, which provides further information on community perceptions of a Council's performance.
Comparative Performance Measurement data is used by Councils to measure trends in their own performance over time, and to compare their performance with the average results for similar Councils, Councils in their region, and across the State. Using the data for direct comparisons between individual Councils may produce results which are both inaccurate and unreliable, owing to variations in the methods of data collection and the different issues being dealt with by each Council at the local level.
